Chyulu Development Foundation joined
Makueni stakeholders drawn from the entire conservation space gathered at Kusyombunguo resort- Wote under special invitation by CIFOR-ICRAF in collaboration with Government of Makueni County(Environment and Climate change sector).
The two day's forum was planned to create a platform for the validation of key support documentation that leverages the succesful implementation of Makueni FOLAREP (Makueni Forest and Land Restoration Program).
The forum extensively analyzed and inputed th3 following documents;
a) The Makueni FOLAREP Concept note,
b) The Makueni FOLAREP popular version,
c) The Makueni FOLAREP resource mobilization framework,
d) The Makueni FOLAREP stakeholders' engagement framework.
The team of founders, government representatives, partner representatives, researchers and technical experts succesfuly contributed to the very cucial documents, and got glimpse updates on the widely known Makueni climate change intervention success story.
Makueni Chief officer for Environment and Climate change Dr. Ngovi Muthoka graced the occasion, and led the County team that expounded on key initiatives like:
1. The progress on Makueni's key climate change policies and bills,
2. Plans on the Makueni Climate Change Fund,
3. Makueni's departmental climate change compliance initiatives(including green roads for water and clean energy programs)
4. Makueni's restoration plans and activities.
The government representatives also outlined key data as clearly analyzed, and presented by The County director of education Joseph Munyao.
During the forum, Mr. Robin Chacha(Programs- CIFOR Icraf) co- moderated the agendas, and expounded on entire FOLAREP steps and its aligning with global, regional, national and sub national environment frameworks.
The organization was represented by CEO, Harrison M. Mwololo and Programs Manager Mary Ndolo, who joined the team in advancing the climate action agenda.
